HTC Rhyme – Design & Build Quality

Design is the highlight of HTC Rhyme. The phone offers a smart elegant design. Every detail has been carefully crafted to deliver a unique and seamless design experience. It has exquisite unibody design makes it different from other phones in the market. The phone has a “plum fruit colour” which is inspired from nature.  More than a phone, HTC Rhyme is an offering which fits your life perfectly.

HTC Rhyme features a 3.7” inch Gorilla glass display at 800 x 480 resolution.

There is no physical buttons or slide out keyboard in the phone. There are not that much buttons around the phone except for the volume key on the right side. The HTC Rhyme weights only130g and its available in plum, Clearwater and hourglass colours.

HTC Rhyme – Hardware

HTC Rhyme feature a 1GHz single core processor, 768MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. The memory is expandable upto 32GB using external memory card. There are sensors like, accelerometer, proximity and compass.

HTC Rhyme – Interface

The phone is loaded with the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS and I think its upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich Android v4.0. Apart from the usual HTC Sense interface, the Rhyme offers some additional customizations in the homescreen. There are four touch sensitive buttons in the front for options, back, home and search.

HTC Rhyme – Media & Connectivity

The phone has all the multimedia capabilities and supports almost all audio and video formats including HD video playback.

About the connectivity, phone supports 3G at HSDPA, 14.4 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps ,EDGE, GPRS, Wi-Fi, also can act like Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA . HTC Rhyme has the best social networking offering and it also has the Grouping feature which groups your friends under a special category which you needed and lets you send text messages to all at once. One of the best feature I saw in this phone is that, when one of your friends call you, their latest facebook status will be popped up on the screen. This is really a ice breaker.

HTC Rhyme – Camera, Battery & Miscellaneous Features

HTC Rhyme is fitted with a 5MP autofocus camera with LED Flash. It can shoot 720p videos @30fps. The camera features Geo-tagging, face detection, etc. There is also VGA secondary camera for video calling. Unfortunately there is no dedicated camera button.

HTC Rhyme is powered by a 1600mAh battery which offers great standby time and talktime Up to 10 h 20 min (2G) / Up to 8 h (3G).

Other features are, The phone supports flash contents, in built text editor, video editor, Stereo FM with RDS, SNS integration and a special Light up charm indicator accessory, great headsets, charging dock etc.

HTC Rhyme – Price

HTC Rhyme price in India is Rs 25,950. The phone is available in USunder the Verizon networks for $439(no contract) and $199.99 with 2 year contract. The phone is of course over priced but, the positives I found with this device is that, it’s amazing design, the lighting charm accessory and the charging/desk dock and the best in class headsets. But, if you are looking for a better performer and a phone with better display then, you can go for alternatives like Samsung Galaxy S Plus, Samsung Galaxy R etc. But, I can assure you that, the build quality wont come near to HTC Rhyme.
